Artist Bio

Kathleen was born and raised in New York, cultivating a lifelong interest in drawing and painting. Although she initially pursued a degree in fine arts, she stepped into the workforce after a year, dedicating her spare time to independent painting and local art classes. After years of balancing art around a busy schedule, she and her husband relocated to the Hudson Valley in the Catskill Mountain Region to pursue painting full-time. As an active member of the Arts Around Greenville group, Kathleen exhibits her work extensively throughout the region. Her oil and encaustic paintings have been featured in the CREATE gallery, the Athens Cultural Center, and the Spencertown Academy juried show, as well as in a variety of local libraries and cafes. Working primarily in oil and encaustic in her studio alongside plein air landscape painting once or twice a week, she continuously evolves her style, approaching each piece as a creative opportunity to explore new techniques.

Artist Statement

I am doing what I love, and hopefully, that joy is reflected in my work. I strive to make each piece reflect the person I am and the artist I am becoming. My goal is to express what I find exciting and translate the beauty around me—turning a fleeting moment into something permanent. My process shifts between the deliberate, tactile layering of encaustic and oil in the studio and the urgent, immediate brushwork of plein air painting, allowing me to explore the landscape from multiple dimensions.
